I was having a serious discussion with somebody today. One of those discussions about the direction of the world and how things will change in the next 50 years.
During this conversation I remembered a point I had read about awhile back (I’d cite it if I could). The author’s gist was that it used to be if something came up during a conversation, and people didn’t know the answer, they would try to reason, argue, or debate to get to the answer. There might be gaps in knowledge, they might even get to the wrong answer, but this sort of thing could become an interesting and lively conversation of its own.
