I have two young children. The eldest has been learning to read and is doing quite well, in my opinion. I’ve only run into one major problem. He doesn’t want to read the books he can read.
Yes, as concerned parents we followed all the advice. We read to him a lot. He took him to bookstores. We gave him board books and read to him from longer books. He didn’t watch a speck of TV until after age 2. For that matter, we still only have a physical TV, a DVD player, and a Wii with Netflix (no reception, cable, etc).
