Free Stuff

If you haven’t yet checked out my new site, today’s your day!  I’m running a giveaway over there, so I do hope you’ll check it out.  The site is:

FindStuff2Read.com

For those of you who write, if you have a short story, flash fiction, or an excerpt from a longer piece, I’d love to share it there.  I’ll do links to any blog, personal website, or purchase location you’d like.   The site’s focus is fiction for YA & adults.  I’d really love the site to help people find new (to them) authors – especially indies, but that means I need samples!  :)

And, of course, since I know you all love to read, take a look around and see if you can find something you’d like to dive into.  Also, if you are an avid reader, and would like to do book reviews, please drop me a line!

Lift Off!

As promised, and a bit earlier than I’m actually comfortable with, this last weekend saw the launch of FindStuff2Read.com (my really cool new website).

Since I know pretty much everyone who visits me is a reader or writer, I thought I’d take a moment to urge you to go check it out.

I like to think of it as matchmaking between authors and readers, but that’s just me.  If you write and want to put up a sample, excerpt, or teaser, please let me know.  If you love to read, you’re welcome to do a guest book review (all reviewers can have their blog/website listed with the review).

One last thing.  If you find a broken link, typo, or other error, please drop me an email at FindStuff2Read@gmx.com.

Review: Drive Back the Darkness

Overall:

I enjoyed this book.  It was a fun and light read for me.  The setting was interesting, as were some of the characters and creatures.  I found the quest compelling and am looking forward to seeing how it plays out in the remainder of the series.  There are also a few subplots that look like they will turn quite interesting as the main plot unfolds.

This book is geared toward the YA (young adult) audience, but probably to the younger end (12ish).  As an adult, there were some weaknesses I found mildly irritating, but in my opinion these are unlikely to bother the target audience.  Moreover, some of these weaknesses will likely allow for more growth and depth in later books in the series.

I would put this book in to the following categories : YA/teen fiction, fantasy, adventure/quest, and coming-of-age.

A Link for Today

Today is Labor Day in the US, so I’m behind more than usual.  However, I thought I’d share this link with you about online book reviews.  Some of you may know that I have an idea that would be a solution to the problem mentioned in this article.  Please stay tuned for more details :)
