So, I’ve been totally off, out of it, sleep deprived, and generally cranky lately. Then I did two really important things. I started reading other blogs again (I’d gotten a bit backlogged) and I read DYAC long enough that I had tears streaming down my face while laughing.
Now that I’m done with that, I’m ready to pick things up again. First of all, I have to get back to my novel. I haven’t done anything with it in over a month – BAD AUTHOR!
I realize that, if I want to actually do this, I’m going to need a reasonable schedule. So, I’m going to attempt to have a schedule. (For the few of you who know me personally, please stop laughing.) I’ll then see if it’s reasonable.
So, here it goes…
I’m going to put out blog posts on M/W/F.
On Tuesday/Thursday mornings, I’m going to get up early to write (I should probably make sure my husband isn’t planning on using the computer then).
I will try to get over to other blogs and Twitter during the day on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
I’ll reserve “nap time” on Wed/Fri for actual reading (I haven’t done that in ages either).
Feel free to notice the irony of my posting this on a day I have already posted. Nothing like starting something by breaking the rules, right?
I like the plan. And sometimes, you need to give yourself a little break, when you’ve pushed really hard. That’s okay.
Julie,
While I agree in theory, a “little break” can become an excuse too easily for me. I’m quite a slacker
I don’t know about that. I’ve seen you working pretty damn hard. And while excuses are not good, burn out is far worse. It’s that balance part that’s hard, isn’t it?
I appreciate the compliment, but I’ve been working hard on my blog… my book hasn’t progressed nearly so much
It is the balance part, you’re absolutely right.
Here’s to planning! Good luck and don’t worry if it seems impossible at the get-go. I think it takes something like 14-21 days to develop a habit. So if you plow through those first few weeks, maybe things will settle in for you and become a piece o’ cake.
Yeah, it takes me about 20 years to produce a habit. I don’t think I actually *have* any (does breathing count?).
A week on, a week off didn’t work when I got sick (and the kids got sick, and nobody slept), so March was a fiasco. It’s probably better for my book, but this includes other things that were beind deprived. We’ll see.
I find a schedule really, really helps me . . . when I stick to it.
I hope the plan works well for you.
That’s the trick, right? Sticking to it. I always have these great plans, but I fail in actually following them.
Too cute
Hey – its always good to have a plan!
I’m glad you enjoyed it
Ahhhhh, yes, discipline lol. I did myself a timetable once…..it lasted 24 hours lol
Good luck!
Xx
Oh, that does make me feel quite a bit better.
